How old does my child need to be to attend Canowindra Preschool?

Our Preschool is for children aged between 3-5.

When can I express interest for my child to attend?

When your child is 2 and turning 3 in that year we will accept an expression of interest. Please note that we cannot keep a place for a children under 3 years.

Should my child bring toys from home?

We have soooo many wonderful resources at preschool that your child does not need to bring toys to preschool. If they would like a cuddle toy for rest time, they can keep it in their bag and bring it out at rest time.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

Yes, all children need to be toilet trained to attend the preschool. If your child has a medical condition that makes this impossible please discuss this with the Director, when making your enquiry.

Are there minimum and maximum days my child can attend preschool?

Our current minimum number of days is 2 and the maximum is 3.

What hours do we open?

School Terms: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm

To make sure your child is experiencing all that Preschool has to offer and to assist with your child’s routine and kindergarten readiness, it is expected that drop off will be between 8:30am and 9:00am. Pick should be between 3:00pm and 4:00pm, the Preschool closes at 4:00pm.

How do I sign my child in and out?

Each day you must sign your child in and out via our QR app, this app records who is delivering / picking up the child and the date and time as required by legislation.

Who can sign my child in and out?

Staff have a duty of care to your child and will only allow them to be collected by parents, guardians or an authorised nominee as listed on your child’s enrolment or created by you as a contact guest, you can do this via your Home app, the contact will be given a link to follow to create a 4 digit pin, this pin and phone number will be used to sign the child in and out (they do not download the app). Any person collecting may be asked to provide photo identification to confirm identification.

What clothes should they wear?

Practical clothes that allow children to run play and get dirty. We are a sun-safe preschool and ask parents not to send their children in singlet tops or dresses. Closed toe shoes like joggers are great, gumboots in the winter are also good. Don’t forget to pack a change of clothes you never know when there maybe a little accident or messy play that requires a change of clothes.

Can you send in medication?

Medication cannot be sent into the preschool without first discussing with the Room Leader or Director, a form is required to be signed and the medication must have the instructions as per the doctor or health professionals instructions on the label. If this is not adhered to the staff will not be able to administer the medication.

Can my child celebrate their birthday at Preschool

If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday at Preschool, please feel free to pack one cupcake for your child. The educators will pop a candle in the cake and we will all sing happy birthday to acknowledge their birthday. Please DO NOT send in cakes / gifts etc for all the children.
